lyrics

The girl twisted the beads around her fingers
Gently at first then sudden turns and tugs
At me gazing away
I shouldn’t have noticed the vacant stare
I didn’t want to think about what lay underneath
But I couldn’t stop my mind

It slowly insisted on several thoughts that way
Which I really had no wish to follow
But it insisted, the choice did not seem mine
She sent shivers down my spine, the girl
And as each shake gained momentum
I saw a movement that I knew

And I almost shouted to her,
"Yes, I know," but arrested the desire
Glad to recognise my own decision for once
I wasn’t sure of what I knew
But concluded perhaps it didn’t matter
My own beads snapped and tumbled all around me
I laughed
She laughed too
